'RITES & WRONGS POSTCARD'Rites & Wrongs is a meteorite satire comic series created and written by meteorite collector Mark Bostick and drawn by Mad Magazine and Cracked Magazine artist Bruce Bollinger. This was the fourth comic in an ongoing controversial series. Postcard shows an image of a dog, named Nakhla (see doghouse), after having been hit by a meteorite. Caption at bottom reads, "Sadly, Mike finds that a dog can be turned to ash." See below if you do not understand the comic. This comic first appeared in Meteorite Times, September 2003 and the original drawling is part of the Blaine Reed meteorite collection. Postcard is in mint condition and has been hand signed on the back by the creator and writer. Postcard was limited to only 1000 copies and measures 5 1/2 inches long and a little over 4 inches wide. Created and written by Mark Bostick with art by Mad Magazine and Cracked Magazine artist Bruce Bolinger. This comic makes fun of the Nakhla meteorite, a Martian meteorite that fell June 28, 1911 in Alexandria, Egypt. During the fall of the meteorite it broke up into 40 stones. One of these stones hit and killed a dog."Many people consider the dog story part of meteorite folklore. However, recent research puts the oldest quote of the dog as having "turned to ash". This along with a well written article has many convinced this story is not true. Personally, I am on the fence and see evidence to support the dog killing; even if it is unlikely.....it is possible.Be sure to add me to your favorites list!FREE US shipping. Elsewhere $1.00.
