DAG118, or Dar al Gani 118), was found by meteorite hunters in the Libya dessert of Africa during 1996. Unlike most African numbered stones, the location of this find is known. Reported in The Meteoritical Bulletin, No. 82, 1998 July edition, as 27°15.29'N 16°00.40'E. However, with the lack of geological reference points the meteorite has been given a number instead of a name, which is more common for meteorites. (Example: The meteorite that fell Feb. 12, 1947 on the Sikhote-Alin Mts. are known as the Sikhote-Alin meteorites.). 52 small meteorite fragments, with a total weight of 1770 grams, were discovered. Classified as an L5/6 stone chondrite, with a shock grade of 4 and a weathering grade of 4 (Fa mol% 25.6, Fs mol% 21.8). Meteorite contains nice shock veins of the comic mineral Ringwoodite. Meteorite was classified by D. Weber and A. Bischoff, and analyzed by D. Weber, L. Niemann, K. Pollok, at A. Jäckel of Mün: Institut für Planetologie, Münster, Germany. Type specimen is in the Museum für Naturkunde, Invalidenstrasse, Berlin, Germany.
