Professional football quarterback Drew Bledsoe was born February 14, 1972 in Ellensburg, VA. He shares the same Valentine's Day birthday with Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame member Jim Kelly. Bledsoe played NCAA college football at Washington State University were he won the starting position as a freshman, the first to do so for WU in over 30 years. Despite only starting 28 games during his collegiate career (1990-92), left Washington State ranked second on the all-time passing list with 7,373 yards, topped only by Jack Thompson's 7,818 yards (44 games). Entered pro football with the New England Patriots who selected him in the first round, first overall, in 1993 NFL Draft. During 1994 Bledsoe set all time NFL marks for pass attempts in a season (691), attempts in a game (70) and completions in a game (45), while leading the league's top passing offense. In 1995, he led the AFC in pass attempts with 636. In fact, he holds nearly all of the Patriots single season and single game passing records. Bledsoe brought the Patriots to Super Bowl XXXI against the Green Bay Packers in 1998 and was the back up quarterback in Super Bowl XXXVI against the St. Louis Rams but did not play. Shortly after the Super Bowl, head coach Bill Belichick traded Bledsoe to the Buffalo Bills for a first-round draft pick in the 2002 NFL Draft. Bledsoe had earned his was to the Pro Bowl three times as a Patriot. On February 22, 2005, Bledsoe was released by the Buffalo Bills, where he had earned his forth Pro Bowl honor. Signed as a free agent in the 2005 off-season, he was acquired by the Dallas Cowboys, reuniting him with Coach Bill Parcells. In the 2005 season, he led the Cowboys to a 9-7 record, barely missing the playoffs. Bledsoe has gone to the Pro Bowl four times, three times as a Patriot, and once as a member of the Buffalo Bills. He has more seasons with 370+ completions than any other quarterback in history, as well as the most seasons with 600+ attempts. In 2005, Bledsoe became the 10th quarterback to pass for 40,000 yards.
