VINTAGE ANIMATION ~ SUPERMAN CARTOON COLLECTION DVDThis collection of early 1940's animated shorts from the legendary Max Fleischer. Expanding on the first generation of Superman comic, Fleischer takes the man from Krypton to a new level. The city is Deco New York, the compositions are edgy and filled with American propaganda, the villains...they never had a chance. Louis is always in trouble, and Clark is always missing. Presented in mono and Technicolor. Some of the cartoons listed may be unsuitable for small children, most of which is unfortunately now banned. "By Arrangement of Action Comics and Superman Magazine". Animations include: 1.) The Arctic Giant, 2.) Billion Dollar Limited, 3.) The Bulleteers, 4.) Destruction, Inc., 5.) Japoteurs, 6.) Jungle Drums, 7.) The Magnetic Telescope, 8.) The Mechanical Monsters, 9.) Volcano and 10.) Secret Agent.DVD is new and comes (sealed) in a snap case. Front cover has a vintage Superman flying in front of any American Flag. Back cover shows "film cells" and has a menu list. Running time: approximate 90 minutes.SUPERMAN CARTOON COLLECTION - DVD: Front and Back Cover. The Arctic Giant (Feb. 27, 1942)This cartoon starts with a news break. A T-Rex dinosaur has been unearthed in Siberia, encased in ice. Brought to a museum in New York and the ice encased dinosaur is placed in a special container. Louis Lane goes to cover the event when a power breaks, thaws out the dinosaur who goes on a rampage. Making a wreck of the city, destroying a dam and puts his eyes on the Brooklyn bridge(?). Enter....Superman and Louis Lane. Supermen fights dinosaur, Louis Lane almost gets eaten being....well Louis Lane.Billion Dollar Limited (Jan. 9, 1942)This cartoon starts with a newspaper headline, "BILLION DOLLARS IN GOLD IN ROUTE TO MINT". Four masked thugs decide to rob a gold train. Amazingly, Louis Lane is the only passage on the train. The robbers have an easy time until they run in Lane, who grabs a machine gun and shoots them away. However, she is now left on a train running full speed and out of control. Dispatchers wire ahead, but someone forgets to remove a large pile of explosives from the track......and of course, the thugs come back. Guess they are faster then a speeding train also. What happens next? Your'll have to watch it.The Bulleteers (Mar. 27, 1942)Another classic. A gang with a bullet-shaped rocket/car terrorizes the city. The Mayor of course challenges them and the gang take out the power station. Superman comes to the rescue and Lois Lane, once again happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, while Superman at the right place at the right time....this time, twice. Lois gets the news scoop...once again, and Clark somehow keeps his job anyway.Destruction, Inc. (Dec. 25, 1942)The watchmen from the Metropolis Munition Plant dies of unusual cause, so Lois Lane goes to work undercover at the plant. While seeking around during the lunch hour, she is spotted spying on some thugs plotting a crime. "Get that girl!" Things go from bad to worse for Lois, but have no fear, Superman comes to save the day.Japoteurs (Sept. 18, 1942)In this anit-Japanese World War II propaganda, the world's largest bomber is built in America and stolen by a Japanese agent to be taken to Tokyo. Superman sneaks on board, the agent leases Lois in a bomb and.....well, this is just kind of bizarre. Other than taking the plane to Tokyo and an implied hate of liberty, the agents motivations are at best unclear.Jungle Drums (Mar. 26, 1943)An airplane is shot down for flying near a secret German base/native tribe in Africa. Lois Lane, one of the plane passengers, survives but is captures, along with the "secret documents". In a drum induced, witch doctor like interrogation, a German tries to get the papers from Lois. But before he can Supermen shows up…it ends with a fleet of American bombers dropping everything on the base. The Magnetic Telescope (Apr. 24, 1942) A crazed scientist invents a special magnetic telescope which can attract or repel celestial bodies. When his first experiment causes a comet looking meteorite to crash into the city (causing little serious damage but a lot of fear and panic), the worried populace and the police demand he cease his mad experiments. However the Professor refuses and sets out to draw an even larger cosmic body towards the Earth so he can study it as the police try and stop him. However, in the attempt the police damage the source of power for the Professor's special magnetic device, without which he no longer has any means of repelling the comet! Now it seems Superman is the city's only hope but can even Superman stop an out of control asteroid-comet?The Mechanical Monsters (Nov. 28, 1941)A gang of flame throwing, flying, long armed robots create a series of cash and jewelry robberies. The police are unable to stop them. Louis Lane, gets herself stolen along with some jewels and gets taken to the controllers lair. Superman comes to save the day and finds Lois in the classic "take one more step" and I cut the string sending the girl into the pool of molten metal trap.Volcano (Jul. 10, 1942)A volcano, that makes noise like a teletype machine, starts showing activity. Louis and Clark leave to cover the news event. However, Louis pulls a fast one to get the news scoop all to her self. The volcano erupts leaving Louis Lane in great danger. For her it is a literal cliff hanger. Guess who saves the day. Secret Agent (Jul. 30, 1943) Gun totting German agents with "diabolical plans of destruction", will do anything to stop a female, apparently not secret agent from delivering their plans to Washington. They have the men and the guns to stop her but they don't count on running into Superman. Superman saves the day and flies off into an American Flag.Be sure to add me to your favorites list!FREE US shipping. Canada and Mexico $3.00, Elsewhere $5.00. I only accept Pay Pal as payment.
