Bedrosian attended the University of New Haven where he played both NCAA college basketball and baseball. The Atlanta Braves selected Steve Bedrosian in the 3rd round of the 1978 MLB Draft. "Bedrock" made his Major League debut on August 14, 1981 and became one of the star relievers of the 1980s. He played for the Atlanta Braves (1981-1985), the Philadelphia Phillies (1986-1989), the San Francisco Giants (1989-1990), the Minnesota Twins (1991) and the Atlanta Braves (1993-1995). Bedrosian had his best season in 1987 when he posted a 5-3 record for the Phillies with a 2.83 ERA, recorded a league-leading 40 saves and was named the National League Cy Young Award winner. Bedrosian was also a 1987 All-Star selection and named the 1987 NL TSN Pitcher of the Year and the 1987 NL Rolaids Relief Man of the Year.
