Another nice collectible for your consideration. You are looking on one(1) 1983 Central High School Yearbook with future NBA Executive/Toronto Raptors President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo. This product is for the 1983 Central High School Yearbook (Phoenix, Arizona), titled "Centralian." This was the Senior high school year for Bryan Colangelo, who is part of the graduating class. Colangelo appears in the book a number of times. He can be found in the Boys Varsity Basketball Team photo (page 75); has a basketball photo showing him making "a strong second effort to pick up the basket and the foul." (page 76); and another basketball photo showing him as he "flys to the hoop for two against the Trevor Browns Bruins." (page 77); and has a Senior Class photo (page 212).
There are several signatures from the '83 class in the front and back of the yearbook. This book belonged to a fellow classmate (male) of Colangelo's, however I could not find Colangelo's signature among them. Cover of book is scuffed a little hear and there and has a couple bumped corners, but looks pretty good overall. Spine and binding are good. Professional sports executive Bryan Colangelo was born June 1, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois and is the son of Phoenix sports mogul, Jerry Colangelo. Colangelo began his NBA and professional sport front-office career with the Phoenix Suns, a franchise then owned by his father. He was a part of that organization for 15 years, the last 11 as the teams General Manager. With the Suns, Colango drafted would-be superstars Shawn Marion and Amar'e Stoudemire and in 2005, signed Steve Nash. Nash would go on to be the 2004-05 and 2005-06 NBA Most Valuable Player awards, and the Suns would go 62–20 and claim the top playoff seed in the Western Conference in the 2004-05 season. As a result, Colangelo was awarded the 2005 NBA Executive of the Yeard Award.
In addition to his work with the Suns, he served as president of Phoenix Arena Sports (PAS), the owning entity of the Arizona Rattlers Arena Football League (AFL) team and the operating entity of the WNBA team Phoenix Mercury from June 1991 through June 2002. The Rattlers won the championship in 1994 and 1997 and the Mercury played in the WNBA finals in 1998. He won the AFL Executive of the Year award in 1993 for his work with the Rattlers. On February 27, 2006, Colangelo resigned from his position with the Suns, and on February 28, 2006, the Toronto Raptors announced him as their new President and GM. In 2007 the Raptors clinched the Atlantic Division for the first time in franchise history. Many credited their significant turnaround from a 27–55 2005-06 season to the changes made by Colangelo, in which he brought in nine new players to the Toronto Raptors' roster. For his efforts, Colangelo was awarded the 2007 Executive of the Year Award.
