The Lee Elia autographed card offered in this product is shown in the photograph below. This 2.5" by 3.5" blank white card (trading card size) has been hand signed by Lee Elia in black marker. Nice bold autograph. On the back of the card is wrote "LEE ELIA - PHILS." The signature has been certified by PSA/DNA and the card has been slabbed in a tamper-resistant case. Signature is PSA/DNA #81997114, the blank card has been labeled a "CUT" and it has been graded "AUTHENTIC." Lee Elia attended the University of Delaware and was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an amateur free agent in 1958. Traded to the Chicago White Sox in 1964, Elia hit 29 home runs in 1965 for AAA Indianapolis, and made his MLB debut on April 23, 1966. He played for the Chicago White Sox in 1966 and the Chicago Cubs in 1968, and is better known today as a manager and his 'Elia Tirade." Elia was a manager for the Chicago Cubs in 1982 and 1983 and the Philadelphia Phillies in 1987 and 1988. Elia, much to his dismay, is best know for 1993 post-game remarks to four reporters. After a disappointing 4-3 loss toHe the Los Angeles Dodgers, Elia was heading to the Cubs' clubhouse when he saw a few players, namely Larry Bowa and Keith Moreland, nearly go into the stands to confront a group of belligerent Cubs fans. Minutes later, when a reporter asked about the team's 5-14 record and the reaction of Cubs fans, Elia snapped. blasted Cubs fans in the stands for booing and heckling the team. The almost legendary "Lee Elia Triade" can be seen in youtube and elsewhere. I have added a couple parts of it censored, of course, below.
