The Detroit Tigers selected Glenn Wilson in the 1st round of the 1980 MLB Amateur Draft and he made his Major League debut on April 15, 1982. Wilson played for the Detroit Tigers (1982-1983), the Philadelphia Phillies (1984-1987), the Seattle Mariners (1988), the Pittsburgh Pirates (1988-1989, 1993) and the Houston Astros (1989-1990). Best known for his tremendous throwing arm, Wilson led all National League outfielders for assists in 1985 and 1986, throwing out 18 and 20 base-runners from right field, respectively. On August 5, 1987 in the bottom on the 8th inning in a game against the New York mets when the Phillies ran out of relief pitchers and manager Lee Elia put Wilson on the mound.
