Plummer played NCAA college football at Arizona State University where he was a four-year starter (1993-1996). He left the school as the Sun Devil's all-time leader in pass completions, passing attempts, and passing yards, and his 65 career touchdown passes in college is ranked third all-time in Pac-10 conference history. The 1996 Heisman award finalist was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2nd round of the 1997 NFL Amateur Draft. “The Snake” was the starting Cardinals quarterback from 1997 to 2002. Signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2003, where he led the team to a wild card playoff game in 2003 and 2004. On March 3, 2007 Plummer was traded by the Broncos to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but chose on March 9th to retire.
