The Reed signed FDC offered in this product is shown in the photograph below. This 1961 Basketball Stamp First Day Cover features a Naismath Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame cachet. The cover has been hand signed by Basketball HOFer Willis Reed, who signed it in blue pen. Nice clean auto. The signature has been certified authentic by JSA (James Spence Authentication). A JSA sticker is attached to the back and the number matches the number on the JSA Certfiicate of Authentication which is also included. Front and back scans of the signed FDC and a scan of the COA are shown below.Former professional basketball player Willis Reed, Jr. was born June 25, 1942 in Hico, Louisiana. Reed attended Grambling State where he played NCAA college basketball with the Grambling and led the school to one NAIA title and three Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships. During his senior year, Reed averaged 26.6 points and 21.5 rebounds a game. The New York Knicks selected Reed with the 10th overall pick in the 1964 NBA Draft. Reed would play for the Knicks his entire 11-year career leading the team to two Championships (1969–70 & 1972–73). Reed was the 1965 NBA Rookie of the Year, a 7-time NBA All-Star selection (1965-1971), the 1970 NBA MVP, the 1970 All-Star Game MVP and a 2-time NBA Finals NVP (1976 & 1973).
