Since then, the United States Postal Service has made this an annual event. Love stamps have proven to be some of the most popular issue and have featured a wide range of subjects, including flowers, animals, cherubs and love letters as well as abstract designs.The 1994 29¢ Love & Sunshine Booklet Stamp was first issued in ceremony by the USPS on Thursday, January 27th, 1994 in Loveland, Ohio (45140), sold nationwide Jan. 28th. This United States definitive postage stamp was designed by Peter Goode of Chester, Connecticut, who created the 1993 Contemporary Christmas stamp. This was the sixth self-adhesive stamp released by the USPS, the first being the 1974 10¢ Peace on Earth – Christmas Stamp (US #1552), and the first Love themed self-adhesive. The horizontal stamp features an image of the sun shaped like a heart. Across the top of the stamp, in a blue sky, is the word "LOVE." In the lower left corner is the letters "USA," while the numeral "29" is set in the lower right corner. The later refers to the stamps twenty-nine cent face value. Modeled by Macello Castelli and Anthony Ameto and printed by the Banknote Corporation of America. The stamp was also issued in coil strips of 18 (US Scott #2813v).The 1994 29¢ Love & Dove Booklet Stamp was first issued in ceremony by the USPS on February 14, 1994 in Niagara Falls, New York (14302). This United States definitive postage stamp features a heart-shaped arrangement of roses with a dove in the center and its tail feathers extending beyond the roses. Ron Sheaff, a USPS art director, and Lon Busch, an airbrush artist, designed the stamps. Conceived as a set (with the 52-cent Scott 2815), both stamps featured a different arrangement of doves and flowers. George Schmitt and Company for the American Banknote Company printed the issue on the five-color gravure press, the colors being black for the shading of the flowers and leaves, red for the roses and the text, green for the rose leaves, yellow for the dove's eye and beak, and beige for shading the dove. This United States definitive postage stamp features an illustration of a white dove-a time-honored symbol of peace, love and fidelity-and a heart, surrounded by calligraphic flourishes. Designed by Michael Osborn of Berkeley, California, who consulted vintage etiquette and penmanship books that contain plates of calligraphic designs used to embellish correspondence, including love letters, during the 18th and 19th centuries. Printed by the Offset pres by Ashton Potter Ltd. in Williamsville, New York, and released in booklets of 20 stamps. The stamp measures 0.91 by 1.19 inches (or 23.114 by 30.226 mm.) and is known to philatelic collectors as US Scott Catalogue #3998.
