Offered here is a vintage album page hand signed by Theodore Bikel. The signature has been certified by PSA/DNA as being authentic. Attached to the back of the album page is PSA/DNA sticker B63691, which matches the certification number on the PSA/DNA Certificateof Authenticity. You can look up this signature on the PSA/DNA online datebase. There is a second and unidentified signature on the back. It appears to be that of actor George Plimpton, however the Plimpton I see online look different. I have several signatures from this album and all are from the same period that Plimpton fits nicely in. Perhaps he changed his signature? THE PSA/DNA certification is for the Bikel signature. Academy Award and Tony Award-nominated actor/folk singer and musician Theodore Meir Bikel was born May 2, 1924.in Vienna, Austria. Palestine, Bikel started acting while in his teens, and co-founded the Cameri Theatre there, before moving to London to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1945. After several plays and films in Europe, Bikel moved to the United States in 1954, and became a naturalized citizen in 1961. Bikel played as the U-boat first officer in The Enemy Below (1957), the captain on the submarine on The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming (1966).
On Broadway, he originated the role of Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music (1959). In the 1950s, Bikel produced and sang in several albums of Jewish folk songs, as well as Songs of a Russian Gypsy, in 1958. He was a co-founder of the Newport Folks Festival in 1959.
In addition to scores of appearances on film and on the stage, Bikel was a guest star on many popular television shows since the 1960s, including The Twilight Zone, Wagon Train, Hawaii Five-O, Columbo, Charlie's Angels, Little House on the Prairie, Dynasty, Knight Ridge and Law & Order. Bikel also appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation and two different roles in Babylon 5. Bikel is President of the Associated Actors and Artistes of America and was elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors of Meretz.
