Carter made his Major League debut on September 14, 1974 and played for the Montreal Expos (1974-1984, 1992), the New York Mets (1985-1989), the San Francisco Giants (1990) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (1991). "The Kid" is best known for his time with the Montreal Expos where he established himself as one of the National League's premiere catchers. During his 19-year career, Carter played in 2296 games and made 324 home runs, 1,225 RBI’s, and a .262 batting average, with 2,092 hits. He led the Expos to a playoff berth in 1981, and helped the Mets win the World Series in 1986.
