Taylor attended the University of Florida where he played NCAA college football from 1994-1997. With the Gators, Taylor rushed for two touchdowns over Florida State in the 1997 Nokia Sugar Bowl on January 2, 1997 helping the team to the 1996 National Championship victory. Taylor was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 1st round, 9th pick overall, in the 1998 NFL Amateur Draft. Taylor made an instant impact leading all rookies in rushing with 1223 yards and scoring 17 touchdowns. Despite the injury problems, Taylor has enjoyed a career as one of the NFL's premier running backs and on November 11, 2007, against the Tennessee Titans, Taylor became the 21st rusher in NFL history to rush for 10,000 yards in a career.
