This Mel Harder cut signature has been certified by PSA/DNA, one of best known names in autograph authentication. The tamper resistant PSA case is the same size as that PSA uses for standard sized trading cards. A sleeve inside the case holds the autograph in the center. It has been certified "Authentic" and the PSA/DNA number is 81955271. It would make a great additional to any autograph or Cleveland Indians collection.
Former professional baseball pitcher Melvin Leroy Harder was October 15, 1909 in Beemer, Nebraska. He made his debut on April 24, 1928 and played in his final game on September 7, 1947, playing his entire 20-year MLB career for the Cleveland Indians. Harder was one of the most successful All-Stars of the 1930s, appearing in all four games from 1934 to 1937 and setting a record with 13 consecutive innings without an earned run.
After his playing career ended he begin a 20-year coaching career, which makes Harder the only man in major league history to have both 20-year playing and coaching careers From 1949 into the 1950s he guided what became known as the Indians' "Big Four" pitching rotation, featuring Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Early Wynn and Mike Garcia. Harder’s uniform number 18 retired by the Indians in 1990.
