1938 3¢ CONSTITUTION RATIFICATION STAMP FDC - US SCOTT #835Thank you buyders for following my postal products. Here is another neat item for your philatelic collection album. You are looking on one (1) 1938 3¢ Constitution Ratification Stamp House of Farnam First Day Cover. This cachet was canceled "JUN 21 9-AM 1938" in "PHILADELPHIA PA." and the cancel reads "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE". This is a nice House of Farnam cachet. It features has the Statue of Liberty standing next to a frame with the words, "150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE RATIFICATION BY NEW HAMPSHIRE OF THE CONSTITUTION." The envelope is a #6-size cover and measures ~6 1/2" by 3 5/8" (inches) or 164 mm by 92 mm. It is neatly addressed and is shown in the photograph below. This FDC has a book value of $20.00. Offered here at only $7.99.The 1938 3¢ Constitution Ratification Stamp was first issued Tuesday, June 21, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sold nationwide Jun. 22. This United States commemorative postage stamp was released to honor the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the Constitution by New Hampshire, which was the ninth state to ratify the constitution and the number required for full ratification. The stamp features a colonial-type courthouse with two horsemen in the foreground. One in the act of mounting and the other galloping away carrying news of the ratification. In the upper left portion of the stamp is the lettering "THE STATES RATIFY THE CONSTITUTION 1788" and in the upper right portion of the stamp is "UNITED STATES POSTAGE 1938." The lower corners the numeral 3 sets in square boxes. In between is the lettering "THREE CENTS." The later refers to the stamp's three-cent face value. Printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) in Washington, DC with a rotary press with purple ink on white paper. Issued in panes (sheets) of 50, individually perforated 11 by 10.5. This stamp measures 1.44 by 0.84 inches and was is known to philatelic collectors as US Scott Catalog #835.The Constitution of the United States was completed and adopted by the Constitutional Convention on September 17, 1787. It was ratified before the end of the year by Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. During the first five months of 1788, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland and South Carolina ratified the document. Setting up June 21, 1788, when New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify.
