Davis was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 8th round of the 1980 MLB Amateur Draft and signed June 8th, 1980. One of baseball's most explosive combinations of power and speed, Davis is the first of only players to ever hit 25 or more home runs and steal 80 or more bases in season (Rickey Henderson also accomplished this feat). Sadly, a series of health problems robbed him of the chance to be remembered as one of the game's all-time greats. Davis played for the Cincinnati Reds (1984-1991 & 1996), the Los Angeles Dodgers (1992-1993), the Detroit Tigers (1993-1994), the Baltimore Orioles (1997-1998), the St. Louis Cardinals (1999-2000) and the San Francisco Giants (2001).
